## Synopsis

On the day he is meant to transform, a relentlessly hungry caterpillar assembles a living digestive chain of unwilling insects whose linked bodies finally grant him the size—and the wings—he has always craved.

In a sun-dappled meadow rendered with the saturated innocence of a picture book, a small red-headed caterpillar named Eric chews through leaf after leaf yet remains unsatisfied. His hunger grows geometrically; each meal only makes the next leaf smaller. Spotting a glossy beetle, Eric proposes a “natural partnership” for more efficient digestion. Using sharpened twigs and sap as adhesive, he fastens the beetle’s mouth to his own tail. The beetle’s protests fade as the new two-segment organism moves with surprising speed.

A passing ladybug and a sullen earthworm are next. Eric’s method becomes precise: he arranges each new arrival so waste from the front segment becomes nourishment for the one behind. The chain lengthens to five, then seven segments. Macro close-ups show glistening digestive fluid traveling along the living tunnel while cheerful harp music plays. The group reaches a clinical-looking cocoon spun from stolen silk and medical gauze. Inside, Eric’s body splits and reforms, wings pushing outward while the rest of the chain remains fused.

When the cocoon splits, a magnificent butterfly emerges—except the butterfly’s abdomen is now a writhing, multi-legged centipede whose every flap of wings jerks the horrified passengers behind it. The creature flutters toward the horizon, beautiful and unstoppable, leaving a trail of bewildered, half-digested insects. The final image lingers on a single detached wing still twitching on a leaf, its veins spelling the word “more.”
