Synopsis

Adam Back — balding, spectacularly messy-haired, glasses permanently sliding off his nose — is a retired Hampstead librarian who has spent a decade being mistaken for Satoshi Nakamoto. He has never owned a computer. He thinks Bitcoin is the name of a racehorse. He charges the journalists camped outside his door two pounds a cup for tea. When a Lamborghini-driving American whale, a Russian oligarch's daughter by helicopter, two incompetent MI6 agents, and a chain-smoking French journalist all descend on NW3 at once, Adam is finally going to find out what on earth Bitcoin actually is. The big twist, in a rainy Hampstead garden at midnight: the real Satoshi is a painfully shy retired IT consultant from Croydon who just wanted to read in peace.
