Fluorescent tubes emit a steady clinical hum. VIOLET HALE walks the linoleum, white coat buttoned, tablet in hand. She stops at a closed door marked 47.

She enters.

INT. ROOM 47 - CONTINUOUS

EMMETT VALE lies propped on starched pillows, skin translucent under the light. No monitors are attached.

VIOLET
Chart indicates no new requests.

EMMETT VALE
The song from the lake house. The one with the broken piano.

Violet glances at the tablet. The screen shows an empty admission form.

VIOLET
I will locate the recording.

She exits. The door closes without sound.

INT. VALE HOSPICE CENTER - CORRIDOR - CONTINUOUS

Violet walks past closed doors. The fluorescent hum fills the space. She pauses at the nurses' station, logs an entry, then continues.

INT. VALE HOSPICE CENTER - NURSES' STATION - NIGHT

DR. REUBEN KORR stands reviewing a leather-bound notebook under the same flat light.

DR. REUBEN KORR
Memory is the only chart that cannot be forged.

Violet registers the statement without reply. She returns to her rounds.

INT. VALE HOSPICE CENTER - CORRIDOR - DAY

Violet logs vitals for documented patients. Controlled lighting. Precise movements. Empty gurneys line one wall.

INT. ROOM 47 - DAY

Emmett Vale's fingers tap a silent rhythm on the blanket.

The recording. From the house that faced the water.

Violet checks the tablet. Empty form persists.

Violet hesitates at the exit door. She glances at the tablet once more.

Violet stands at the address. Bare ground. No structure. She places a small digital recorder on the dirt and steps back.

Violet returns. Sabine Kess waits at the nurses' station, digital recorder clipped to her pocket.

Your last entry shows a discrepancy in Room 47.

Violet offers no correction.

INT. ROOM 47 - NIGHT

Emmett Vale watches Violet enter.

The second request is simpler.

He whispers a new errand. Violet listens, then exits.

INT. VALE HOSPICE CENTER - CORRIDOR - NIGHT

Violet fulfills the request at a second empty address, then returns.

INT. VALE HOSPICE CENTER - RECORDS VAULT - NIGHT

Violet opens a drawer. Inside lies a chart folder labeled VIOLET HALE. The signature matches her own.

She closes the drawer.

INT. VALE HOSPICE CENTER - CORRIDOR - NIGHT

BRAM LORNE follows at a distance, clipboard pressed to his chest. Dr. Reuben Korr makes a note in his leather-bound book.

INT. VALE HOSPICE CENTER - PERSONNEL OFFICE - NIGHT

Violet finds her own personnel file marked DECEASED.

INT. VALE HOSPICE CENTER - RECORDS VAULT - NIGHT

Violet sits alone. The single desk lamp casts a violet-tinged cone. She cannot recall the last time she left the building.

INT. VALE HOSPICE CENTER - RECORDS VAULT - NIGHT

Violet gathers the undocumented charts. She feeds them into the small incinerator one by one. Paper curls. Flames reflect on metal shelves.

INT. ROOM 47 - NIGHT

Emmett Vale lies as before.

Confirm your identity.

Violet signs a fresh chart. It contains only her date of birth and the word "admitted."

INT. VALE HOSPICE CENTER - CORRIDOR - NIGHT

Violet stands under the fluorescent tubes. She holds a binder that contains only her admission date. The hum continues.
