Synopsis
Reclusive diver Vance lives by one rule: greet every day of July with wide-eyed glee and the phrase "Happy July! Pwease and Thank you!" His infectious sincerity slowly melts the cynicism of locals and tourists alike, sparking spontaneous underwater dances, rooftop picnics, and viral videos that make the town famous overnight. When a slick wellness conglomerate arrives to trademark the slogan and turn Vance into a branded mascot, he must dive deeper than ever to protect the pure, unmonetized happiness he's unleashed. With the help of a sharp-witted marine photographer and a ragtag group of misfits, Vance stages a final, spectacular free-dive spectacle that reminds everyone why the month exists in the first place. The film ends on a sunset boat deck where the entire town repeats his catchphrase in perfect, tearful unison.
The story
