Synopsis
At the peak of a sweltering New England summer, Harvard sophomore Lena Voss arrives at Arcadia, an exclusive lakeside compound run by charismatic ex-activist turned guru Marcus Vale. What begins as sun-drenched debates on equity and free love quickly curdles when dissenters vanish and loyalty is measured in public confessions. As Lena climbs the inner circle, she uncovers a meticulously engineered system that weaponizes shame, surveillance, and romantic manipulation to consolidate absolute control. Tensions explode during the annual Solstice Festival when a viral scandal forces members to choose between the collective and their own survival. Friendships fracture, romances weaponize, and the lake itself becomes a silent graveyard for those who asked the wrong questions. Lena must decide whether to expose the machine or become its next operator. By summer's end the compound burns—literally and metaphorically—leaving Lena forever changed and the outside world none the wiser.
The story
Lena arrives at Arcadia, dazzled by Marcus and the promise of meaningful community; she bonds with a small circle and begins to internalize the rules.
Power struggles intensify as public shaming rituals escalate; Lena discovers hidden files and silenced voices while her relationship with Marcus turns coercive and her closest friend disappears.
During the chaotic Solstice Festival, Lena publicly denounces the system, sparking a violent uprising; she escapes as the compound is destroyed, forever marked by what she helped build and dismantle.

Cold open
INT. ARCADIA DINING HALL - NIGHT Golden light spills across reclaimed-wood tables. Twenty beautiful twenty-somethings in linen and vintage band tees finish a communal meal. MARCUS VALE (40s, magnetic) stands, glass raised. MARCUS Tonight we practice what we preach. No phones. No secrets. No ego. He nods. Everyone slides their phones into a wicker basket. LENA VOSS (20) hesitates, then drops hers in last. The group applauds. Marcus smiles at her like she's the only one in the room. MARCUS (CONT'D) Lena, tell us one truth you've never said out loud. Lena swallows, cheeks flushing. The lake outside is perfectly still. LENA I... sometimes wish my parents had less money so people would take me seriously. A beat. Then laughter—warm, approving. Marcus raises his glass higher. MARCUS Welcome home. The lights flicker once. No one notices.
