Synopsis

In present-day Los Angeles, animator Theo Reyes discovers his old VHS tapes of the 1994 Spider-Man series have begun glitching with impossible sentience. One night the characters shatter the fourth wall and step into his apartment, fully alive and voiced exactly as they were thirty years ago. What starts as a surreal reunion quickly escalates when the show's arch-villain, the Red Skull, emerges with the power to rewrite physical laws and erase anyone who remembers the original timeline. Theo must assemble an unlikely team of cartoon heroes—now vulnerable to real bullets and aging—who still think they’re in an episodic kids’ show. As 1994 idealism collides with modern cynicism, the group races across a city that is literally being redrawn in cel-shaded brushstrokes while trying to keep their existence secret from a terrified public and a government task force. The final battle unfolds atop a flickering Empire State Building where the cartoon heroes must decide whether to return to their two-dimensional prison or fight for a messy, three-dimensional future they were never meant to inhabit.

The story

Act I

Theo, a burned-out animation restorer, finds his 1994 Spider-Man tapes coming alive on his monitor. The characters materialize in his living room, confused but heroic, forcing him to hide them from the real world.

Act II

Red Skull hijacks broadcast towers to overwrite reality with 1994 animation rules; the cartoon team battles him across LA while struggling with physical weakness and existential dread, pushing Theo to become the reluctant director of their last episode.

Act III

Atop a warping Empire State, Theo sacrifices his own memories to trap Red Skull back inside the tapes, allowing the 1994 heroes one final heroic stand before choosing to fade out—leaving Theo with only a single restored frame as proof they were real.

INT. THEO'S CRAMPED STUDIO APARTMENT - NIGHT

Rain hammers the windows. THEO REYES, 32, unshaven, sits in the blue glow of a 1994 CRT monitor. Spider-Man 94 swings across the screen in hand-painted cels.

THEO
Come on, old friend. Still got one good episode left in you?

The picture glitches. Spider-Man freezes mid-swing, then turns his head—directly at Theo.

SPIDER-MAN (V.O.)
Hey, pal. Little help here?

Theo bolts upright. The screen cracks. Light pours out. A fully three-dimensional, cel-shaded SPIDER-MAN tumbles onto the carpet, coughing.

SPIDER-MAN
Whoa. This city’s got a lot more pixels than I remember.

Theo stares, speechless. On the monitor, more 1994 characters begin pressing against the glass.

Why now

At the exact moment audiences are exhausted by soulless reboots yet starving for the uncomplicated heroism of their childhood, Web Of 94 weaponizes pure 90s nostalgia into a propulsive, emotional action film that asks whether we can still become the heroes we once cheered for on Saturday mornings.
